Source: Crawfordsville Review May 29, 1923 p 3

Ida G. Selby, daughter of Francis and Martha Mitchell Nichols was born in Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana Feb 6, 1859. Here she grew to womanhood and on Nov 2, 1881 she was united in marriage to John W. Selby. To this union 5 children were born 3 sons and 2 daughters, one daughter havin gpassed away many years ago at the age of 7 months. After her marriage she and her husband began housekeeping in the vicinity of Alamo, where they continued to reside until her death. Many years ago and under the pastorate of Rev. Ewing she united with the Alamo Christian Church and remained a member until the end. She had been in poor health for more than 12 years and during all that time all was done for her that could be done. For the past week she had been seriously ill but the aid of the physician, relatives and friends could not prevail to extend her life and in the afternoon hours of May 19, she passed away at the age of 64 years 3 months 4 days. Leaving to mourn her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Rush, Fred Selby and Scott Selby all of Alamo, Charles Selby at home with his father, two grandchildren, two half brothers, Everett and Roy Nichols of Crawfordsville and one half sister, Mrs. Grace Brown of Crawfordsville. Other relatives and a host of friends. Truly a good woman has gone unto her reward. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a good neighbor a true friend. A Christian woman who lived the Christian life to the best of her ability. She has contributed much to the community in which she has lived so long and the good impressions she has left will live on and on. She has paid the price that all have or will be obliged to pay. She has gone unto her reward and may peace be unto her departed soul. - kbz
